i an a poor girl child
unwanted, uncared by kind
i see but i have no sight
i speak but i have no voice
i feel but i have no feelings
i care but i am uncared for
i do but i stand undenied
i learn but not from books
i say but i am not heard
i eat but barely
i work but not for myself
i earn but never for me
i laugh but never truly
i cry but always alone
i depend but not on myself
i stand but all alone
for i am a poor girl child.
